  If you’ve noticed an influx of “Early Out” programs at your library, it’s for good reason! School districts in Johnson and Lafayette Counties have begun monthly, and sometimes weekly, early release days for students. Our branches are excited to welcome students during these early outs with programming that will let them stay engaged while providing entertainment and leisure in a safe space. The Corder Branch will offer an Early Out Hang Out each Wednesday in September and October at 3:00 p.m. for Pre-Teens and Teens.   Storytime is one of the first interactions many children have with library service and we strive to make storytime fun, engaging, and educational for young children and the caregivers who bring them! In addition to sharing the joys of books and reading, storytime provides important early literacy skills through rhymes, finger plays, full body movement, and more! While children may think they’re just having fun and being silly, they are really learning important foundational skills to begin reading on their own.
