Borrower Registration Guidelines

The following guidelines apply to borrower registration at Trails:

  • All residents of Johnson and Lafayette Counties are eligible to receive a library card from Trails. Persons working or attending school in either county are also eligible for library cards.
  • A card obtained at any branch may be used at any other branch within the Trails system.
  • No fees are charged for library cards or borrowing privileges although a small fee is charged for replacement of a lost card.
  • A library card application must be completed and signed indicating acceptance of responsibility for lost or damaged materials.
  • There is no minimum age for obtaining a card, but parents must sign the application for applicants under the age of 16.
Trails has reciprocal borrowing agreements with Mid-Continent Public Library and Cass County Library. Persons with library cards from these libraries may check out materials from any Trails branch once they obtain a Trails Library card and Trails library card holders may check out items from any of these libraries upon obtaining a card from said library.
