"The only true equalizers in the
world are books; the only treasure-house open to all comers is a library; the
only wealth which will not decay is knowledge; the only jewel which you can
carry beyond the grave is wisdom."

Trails Regional Library Foundation is a not-for-profit
organization whose mission is "to solicit, receive, hold and administer gifts
in accordance with the intent or designation of the donors" to support and
benefit the Trails Regional Library District. It is governed by a 10 member
Board of Directors comprised of citizens
from Johnson and Lafayette Counties.
Trails Regional Library Foundation
was created in 2004 to seek additional financial support for the district and
its eight community branches in Concordia, Corder, Holden, Knob Noster,
Lexington, Odessa, Warrensburg and Waverly. While the library district is able
to maintain its branches with existing revenue, expansion or replacement of
buildings is not possible without
private
donations. The library struggles to stay abreast of changes in technology
and materials with its annual budget and is challenged to respond to the
increased demand for expanded programming and services. |
